It's Friday

Finally, the weekend has arrived, and I can get more beauty sleep since there is no school.

Actually there wasn't supposed to be school today too but because the Web Publishing Lecturer is in overseas during the the first week of the semester as mentioned in one of my previous posts, we had to go back to school for his make up lesson. Speaking of which, it was actually quite worth it after all today, the computer illiterate guy got to learn many new and interesting things

The tables are newer and cleaner in the classroom that we were in today which is at t17, but the one thing that was not so good is the internet fengshui. I got disconnected a couple of times and the connection was slower than usual at a mere 17mbps and my friend, Zhi Teng's one was only 5mbps. Maybe because the row which we were seating in was directly under a beam which is not very desirable in fengshui, I guess so

I wanna go eat apples now, bye

War of Web Browsers

During the evening, I read an article on web browsers in the digital life section of The Straits Times, it had listed 5 different web browsers, all of them I had used before, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera

The writer's choice was Firefox which I'm using right now too, he stated that it has a clean interface, good features, enhanced security and fast Web page rendering. As for me, I would not say Firefox is slow, but if you want to go for speed, then Safari would be your choice. It's the cheetah of web browsers

Also, I like Google Chrome for it's simplicity compared to other fellow browsers, ability to have tabs pulled out as a seperate window and it shows a snapshot of the most visited websites when a new tab is opened(convenient for lazy people like me)

As for Opera, the article states that it stands out from the rest as a multi-purpose web browser with special features but for ordinary people like me, it doesn't really have an impact, and it's slower than the rest

Lastly, let's not forget the mighty Microsoft Internet Explorer which has more than two-thirds of the market share. It is so "mighty" that the whole thing can just crash for no reason when you are busy typing something or uploading an important file. When something goes wrong, it will just pop out a "IE is not responding blah blah blah" kinda message, and humans will be tempted to click the [end now] button to end their "suffering" once and for all

So my choice? Ermmm, maybe Clean Chrome...or Speedy Safari or Favourable Firefox, alright, "odd one out" Opera also can consider. did I say Internet Explorer? No I did not, I did not, idiotic explorer...

New TV & HP

I have officially became the owner of 2 new things in my house, the first one is the TV which arrived on Saturday and the second is my handphone

My old Toshiba television is spoiled somehow, the channels just go "zar zar zar" and nothing but black and white dots appear on the screen when you switch it on, it was so annoying that it prompted my father to swear that he will never ever buy Toshiba products again just like I'll never buy Acer products too. Compared to the new Sharp TV, the old grey Toshiba looks less classy and stylish than it's shiny black successor. Designs aside, the only significant difference is that the sounds are little more "high pitched" somehow, I think so

As for my handphone, I have switched to Sony Ericsson c902, the camera is 5MP(sharper than the previous one which is 3.2), and it is lighter plus thinner than my old k810. I have been eyeing this handphone since it was launched months back and now that i have owned one at last, I just feel so joyous today

Also, Liverpool won Chelsea 1:0 and they are top of the table now, this is gonna be mad man!

CIP

Do we really care about CIP? Is it really that crucial to us in our lives? Only the person who introduced this time-consuming and learn nothing thing will know. As for you and me, we just know that doing it is obligatory and will not harm us, so we still do it for the sake of it and to give face to the organizer

During the Character Development lesson today, the boring lecturer just sent us into "almost sleep mode" by talking about our CIP project, she showed us previous examples done by other students which really make me irritated as it was a waste of time. She also told my class about the benefits of doing it, but I wonder whether those benefits are really genuine or are just created by the writer to occupy space on the powerpoint slide so that the page doesn't look empty

After doing CIP, we just forget about it and continue leading our lives, if you ask yourself and answer truthfully, do you think you will really benefit anything significant from it?

Oh, and here's a photo of the dull lecturer

Warehouse "Sale"

Today I went to the Nike Warehouse Sale at my school, it's the first day of it

I walked around the place for less than 10 minutes

Why so fast? Because there's nothing really "warehouse" there, the shoes are so expensive, like 60 plus, and I don't think you can bargain there. Everything else also don't come cheap, there are too many to list here so I shall not waste time typing and you can save some time reading

Actually I've have come across lots of these kinds of sales, they make the advertisements on newspapers so appealing but the real thing is just not what you expected

But this is human nature, we want to make everything look good to attract others right? So you can't blame them for making you waste time(and maybe money) go down there to walk for fun

Back to Blogging

ok, I've been absent from this blog for more than a week

Anyway, the second semester of school has started and I'm into my 2nd week of it, so let's recall what occured last week

Monday: The first day of school was not as exciting and interesting I expected, there was supposed to be Web Publishing class from 9.30am to 11.30am, but the lecturer is in overseas, OMG! So there was free time all the way until 1pm(including lunch break

Then we had practical lesson from 1pm to 3pm and the lecturer just "throw" us into the "sea" without teaching us anything, and we were all figuring out all the graph thingys, maybe this is what it means by independent learning

Tuesday: Second day of school started with psychology class in the morning, and the "psycho" lecturer just talked and chatted and spoke and said lots of things, I really wonder if she knows about psychology as human beings will get bored and restless after listening to a monotonous and dull talk after some time, and in the end little or nothing will be absorbed. But it's the first lesson, so let's wait and see

And again the Web Publishing lecturer is still in overseas for whatever reason and there was even a note kindly pasted on the class door stating that there is no lesson for the day

So again, there was free time till 4pm, where the Maths lecturer, an old witch, awaits us. The only lecturer that I sort of "don't like" is her, she looks more like a primary school teacher, handphones switched off, no sleeping, and getting random people do answer the questions she assigned us to do in class. So traditional, so conventional, but not practical in this era anymore. Well, we are just students, the teacher is always rightjust like the saying the customer is always right

Wednesday: Only one practical lesson today, my class and I learned about the internal organs and intestines of a computer like the RAM, hard disk etc. Quite interesting and educating

Thursday: Like Wednesday, I was the first person to reach class in the morning, it was Oral Communication, the lecturer made every one of us stand in front of the class to talk, on any topic.

My topic was on Acer Computers, and as my classmates know, I really loathe Acer, their computers hang suddenly out of the blue, optical wireless mouses have no connection even if you are using a new battery, and their call centre is really atrocious(you can try calling their hotline for an annoying experience). It was not a very long talk, the lecturer said my speech was well structured and has a conclusion(which I remember saying do not buy acer products)

The rest of the lessons were rather normal except for the Character Developement, which was extremely boring

Friday: No lesson today, yeah!!!

That's all for last week

Time Files

Tmr will be my last day of work and I'll be going back to school next Monday, I feel rather happy and sad at the same time, but life has to go on anyway. So I'll be seeing my poly classmates again after 6 weeks and leaving Crimsonlogic after 6 weeks(again)

Tmr is also my company's Dinner and Dance, what a coincidence? By the time I am seated in the ballroom on Friday evening, I'll would already be an official alumni of the company, but I am still entitled to the lucky draw, as I am still a staff when I registered for this event

A night of glamour awaits the employees of Crimsonlogic tomorrow...

10 ways to save electricity

Let's applaud our fabulous government for doing such a wonderful thing!
They raised the electricity bills this month! Yeah, we have to pay more now! This is so nice, we have to pay more now! If you are sane, you should be able to sense the sarcasm here

Anyway, I have listed 10 effective ways to cope with this splendid thing the government has done, the last one is my favourite

1. Use something else like a board to cool yourself instead of switching on that device which turns it's blades to produce a current of air which is call a fan

2. Put your computer to hibernation when you are away from it for some time

3. Try not to turn on the water heater on a scorching day since the water is already "boiled" by the hot weather

4. Cook multiple dishes simultaneously in the oven as it require less time and energy compared to doing it one after another

5. Do not open the refrigerator door unnecessarily because cool air will escape

6. Switch off the lights when watching TV at night since there is already light from the TV screen and the atmosphere will be more romantic as it's darker...

7. Set the water level right to match the volume of laundry in the washing machine

8. Plan your ironing and do not iron unnecessary garments like your socks

9. Play board games like chinese chess(which can stimulate your brain)instead of electronic ones occasionally

10. And lastly, charge your handphone, MP3, PSP, laptop and any other electrical devices of yours in the office or school, I believe many people including you are guilty doing this, but we all function with a human brain, so we need not be convicted for this crime

Hope this post helps you to deal with that fantastic thing the government has done

Something Fishy

Yeah, I've got 3 new guppies to add to the 10 odd ones in my house(to be exact, it should be outside my house, as they are kept at the corridor). They look so cool, one has a light blue body with a fiery red tail, the other is an authentic black tail with golden fins and the last one is a butterfly tail with curvy patterns on it's body

Guppies just look so beautiful when you place different kinds of them together, they look much better than discus fishes, which will only hide shyly if you put your head too close to the tank. According to my past experience of keeping various types of fishes as pets, guppies and flower horns are the only two types that are amiable to humans and are my favourites as well

Actually I think my favourite animal is fish after all, they look quite pleasing swimming in the water for people to admire. These aquatic vertebrates with gills, fins and typically an elongated body covered with scales are just so wonderful to have as pets

Lunch at ABC market

Today I went to ABC market at bukit merah for lunch, and as planned I ate the King's fish meat bee hoon(I think that's the name)

I had it for lunch same time same place 2 weeks ago too, and the "content" was awesome, it made me so full after greedily wiping out everything in the bowl which consists of bee hoon, fish slices, abundant amounts of vegetables and my favourite fried egg.

Let me elaborate on the fried egg, it is that kind where you beat the eggs until all yellow then put into boiling water to cook until it looks silkly and velvety, like those in hor fun. The one served here has 1 more step which is it's deepfried. So when you put it in your mouth, it is so chewy and just melts in your mouth. It looks like chicken floss from far. If you still don't understand what I'm saying here, you can ask me personally as I'm not very good at describing

For today, the "content" has sort of been given a "discount". It's a little less today and it did not make me too full after finishing it, just nice for me

Nothing much exciting happened today so that's all...

Role Playing

Yesterday, I went to Thomas' house to play, there were his brother, Wai Yuen, and Jian Nan, who looked like a beggar because of his long and messy hair. So we played dota there and Thomas' xbox 360, it was a typical scene like on any day when we were still in secondary school. Wai Yuen and I would be making fun of Jian Nan non-stop, and the 2 of them would be quarelling with a friendly tone, pointing out each other's weaknesses

The 4 of us were just jokers. It's been a long time since I had an "accomplice" to create laughter with me together. In my current class in SP, I'm always the one making people laugh in class, so I'll have to brainstorm what to say every now and then to keep the place joyful, but that's the role I play in class, so I'll continue anyway

Sometimes, it's just so hard to be a humourous person, you have to ensure you don't offend people in the process of doing so, although it's inevitible at times through my experience. Nevertheless, I'll still be who I am, I believe I'm born to be amsuing and comical and it's my responsibility to make people around me laugh

My class is having a chalet plus bbq today but the joker would not be going, do enjoy yourselves guys, and Melvin and Qing Xiong, do update your blogs with pictures at there ok?
