30 March

ITP was still so-so just that I realize that quite a number of people will be leaving the company within these two days because it is the close of the financial year. There two full-time staff leaving today and a few more going off tomorrow. Well, in life, there is never something which lasts forever. Records will be broken one day, people will part ways some day and governments won't last forever (hint hint, get what I mean?)

This Friday is Good Friday so yeah, we finally endured for a public holiday's arrival. Luckily it falls next to a weekend so I can have a longer break. Why don't they have Good Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and so on? Aiyah might as well have a Good March? Good sia!

Ok so nothing lasts forever, back to reality. Must sleep early tonight so that I will have energy to send off the people who are leaving tomorrow. Send off refers to farewell by the way in case you misunderstood it

BMW bicycle

This looks so cool. If only I had two thousand dollars, I would buy one. But then again I could use that money for a better purpose (unlike my government). Sighs, only if I was a rich man. Oh yeah the brand is BMW for your information. The car maker have decided to have a bicycle of their own come June

GATECRASH WATER EVENT

Photobucket

This is a very important thing as it concerns all Singaporeans. Please continue reading if you are a Singapore citizen (and not those who migrated here). Bukit Batok grassroots organization is holding a Water Festival event on 18 April to celebrate the cultural festival for foreigners from Thailand, Myanmar, Laos etc

We should always remember that it is important for one to celebrate his cultural festivals. However, doing it at the expense of taxpayers' monies is absurd. Why is our money used to "sponsor" such an event when it can put to better use like helping the needy? If we go to America, we do not expect the government there to celebrate Mooncake Festival or Deepavali for us right?

Since kindergarten, we were taught about water conservation and how precious this liquid is in our country. Singapore is the only only country in the world since independence that needs to buy water from another country so what is the point that the government is trying to make?

Welcoming foreigners and making them settle down in the local society? Wait long long. You will never see a Burmese mingle with a Fillpino, these foreigners are always together in their own groups, creating a din and making a nuisance of themselves in public like they are at their own land. Having this event for them will further make them take for granted that this is their land

This one has really gone too far that I must stand up and broadcast it to everyone. Please spread the message around to create awareness

If you still have a heart and care for the country you own (and the money you and your family pay as taxes), join the Facebook event "GATECRASH WATER FESTIVAL" here to pledge your support

Do not have to be worried. Soon, you will realize that there are many kindred souls fighting it together with you. For the sake of our country (and money), stand up now!

14 day of ITP

Ok, my LO will be visiting me for the first time tomorrow but he didn't want to give me a time so who cares. Later I go for lunch and he come then it's his tachi already

Today morning my supervisor assigned me to brief the two temp staff about some procedures about the work and operations. Omg, I never expected that I would become a teacher in my life one day

Actually, judging from the way to impart my knowledge to my "students", I think I can be fairly good teacher. At least my students will like me and I can get their attention

But then again, it is just two people for today, a real teacher will have to discipline thirty students at a time. Ok rephrase, maybe I can be fairly good tuition teacher

Whatever, at the end of the day, I am still just another employee who waits eagerly for the time to reach six in the evening

12th and 13th day of ITP

It has been a bit different for me for the past two days. My supervisor assigned me to write an entire call centre support manual on one of the company's products. I used Microsoft Word to do it and finished it after more than eight hours

So for the whole of today, I was just sitting at the back typing on the keyboard. The only other things which I did for the day was eat, drink and bent down to check which wire was loosen when the computer shut down suddenly

My supervisor asked me about the standard deviation and other Maths stuff which I wrote in the weekly entry in my log book. So I told him I will go check up on the formula first. I have not studied it six months already

Oh yeah back to square again for tomorrow

11th day of ITP

At last, that Ah Beng Liasion Officer (LO) of mine called me today, he sounds quite Ah Beng to me. He said he will be coming down to visit me this Friday and asked me about the security and rules over there. He even asked me to hop into his car and we will find a place to talk at but I told him it's ok as I can book a room in office for the meeting

So in the afternoon, I played around with the Microsoft Outlook and managed to make a booking of one of the meeting rooms next to my workplace on Friday. By the way, I booked it for the whole day, 9am to 6pm because he has yet to tell me what time will he be coming

It's been two weeks already and my log book is visibly flooded with words. It has been such a long time since I last wrote so many words with my hand. The last time I did it was during my Literature exam in O Level I think. I am planning to be sort of a scriptwriter and my entries will have plot twists and unexpected happenings every week

Oh yeah and tomorrow is Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day. Free ice cream for all at their participating scoop shops islandwide from 12pm to 7pm. No chance for me of course, I'll be stuck in the office counting down to 6pm like every other day

How can I not talk about my government?

How can I not talk about my government? It is clear that in Singapore, the rich gets richer while the poor gets poorer. When I mean rich, I don't mean the wealthy CEOs or managing directors. I am, of course, referring to my dear millionaire ministers who wear white during National Day parades

A study conducted by Swiss financial company UBS last year showed that the average Singaporean's salary decreased by eight percent in the last three years. This pales in comparison to the erhem, 50% increase of our ministers' pay during the same time

Time and again, PAP MPs claim that foreign workers has helped increased the salaries of Singapore citizens like what Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam did recently

Halimah Yacob, one of the few female MPs who love talking a lot other than Dr. Amy Khor, has raised doubt over the UBS study in Parliament. She said that there was a significant jump of about 20% in wages over the same period of time

Sadly, both Halimah and Tharman didn't do their homework and the Labour report by MOM on Monday proved that

“Nominal earnings decreased over the year by 1.6% in the fourth quarter of 2009, easing from the 3.0% decline in the preceding quarter. Earnings in 2009 declined by 2.6%, after rising by 5.4% in 2008. After adjusting for inflation (2009: 0.6%, 2008: 6.6%), the decline in real earnings was 3.2% in 2009, deeper than the contraction of 1.2% in 2008.”

there was absolutely something wrong about their statements and claims. What made them said such things when it is their reputation at stake? An MP in Singapore easily earns $13000 a month from allowance so we should try to "understand" that they were unable to see how Singaporeans are struggling to make ends meet every day

Singaporeans' salaries decreased while their leaders' ones increased at the same time? What kind of logic is that in this world? Is my government for the average man like me? Not when they cannot be trusted for what they said and when they are getting such spectacular wages

It's time for change. Wake up my fellow Singaporeans and discard those one-sided history textbooks in your house

Manchester United vs Liverpool

Look what we have for this weekend! Manchester United versus Liverpool. Two 18 time top division champions will face off tomorrow night at Old Trafford. Everyone should remember what happened one year ago right?

So the Red Devils will be out for revenge against their long-time rivals at their own stadium. They will not have Cristiano Ronaldo with them this time but with Wayne Rooney in the form of his career, Man United still pose a real threat to Liverpool. The Reds have already defeated their rivals in their previous three encounters, scoring eight goals past Edwin van der Sar the United keeper

Fernando Torres is finding back the spark that made him good enough to be able to stand side by side with Steven Gerrard in Liverpool fans' hearts. Plagued with injuries this season, the Spanish striker has been absent in a number of crucial matches with directly affected Liverpool. Luckily, he will be fit for Sunday's clash and Nemanja Vidic will be busy again. Ok now does anyone still remember this guy?

You will be forgiven if you had erased him from your memory because he is out of the season with an injury, again. His World Cup hopes, the very reason why he joined Manchester United, are dashed. Even when he was still fit, he was always playing second fiddle to Rooney

Well, as a Liverpool fan, I will naturally predict that my team wins so final score will be 3:1 to the Reds. If you can't wait for the movie, Clash of the Titans, to be screened in cinemas, you can catch a live telecast of the football version one tomorrow night

9th and 10th day of ITP

Ok so I didn't update yesterday. I was busy playing games so it slipped off that ageing mind of mine. Yesterday during lunch, I watched thirty minutes of Avatar in the recreation room. One Malay auntie brought the DVD and I helped them (group of aunties and some middle-aged ones) to play with the DVD player

Yes, I watched about thirty minutes of the show but I was busy explaining to the aunites who the character were and what the story was about for two-thirds of the time. If my lunchtime was two hours, I would have completed watching it as some boring parts are worth skipping. The night before was very cold that when I woke up today, I realized that my body was curled up like a porcupine

The past two days were seriously the most boring days since the first day of my ITP. There were little calls so when I received the daily email on the statistics of yesterday, my idle time was 5 hours and 48 minutes. Technically, this means that I worked for only 2 hours plus yesterday. Well, but my pay is so pathetic anyway so I don't feel bad about it

Today will be a good challenger for the title of the most slack day with Yesterday. From 4pm to 6pm in the afternoon, I only answered two calls. The rest of time I was busy thinking of what to do to entertain myself and entertaining myself with the things which I thought of doing. Oh yes and I changed seat today and Zhiteng signed in to MSN earlier than me in the morning for the first time. He seems to be proud of himself

It was so boring that at 5.58pm, I already started closing all the windows and my Outlook on my computer before pressing the logout button on the phone at 5.59pm. Who cares? I started work at like 8.55am you know so I had already exceeded the usual eight hours of work per day. Pay me more lah then you'll see some changes

8th day of ITP

Oh! Just another day, survived another day. Today I ordere Malay food for lunch it was $4.50. *Jaws dropped* Every day I learn something new during work. Actually not very true because I also do learn new things every day before ITP. Nothing much to elaborate so I think I shall stop here

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

7th day of ITP

Today is the first day of a month in the Lunar calendar so I had to eat vegetarian for the whole day

I ordered rice and three kinds of veggies for lunch and the auntie charged me $2.70. Walau, scam me lor! Three veggies need more than $2.50? Might as well go sell Western food

Ok and then I bought a can of Jia Jia liang teh and the taokay neo cahrged me $1.20. That foodcourt is really a scammer, I probably not patronize it again unless all the other eating places nearby are closed

That's all for today but before I go, I have a picture to share with you all. Click on it if you can't see the words clearly

6th day of ITP

I don't know what the hell happened but I cannot login to my SPICE account today. My LAN ID on my school laptop, my ESP account, my SAS account and every other account that requires my admin number as the ID. Gonna call up those idiots from the IT department tomorrow morning

So for now, I have to make do with using the laptop's administrator account that has an irregular resolution which makes things appear bigger than usual. Strange but I was able to login yesterday with the same password but I don't know what took place within twenty-four hours

Anyway for day six of ITP, it was the first day that I worked for one complete day and it was tiring. I realized that ITP has taken up so much of our time that it makes us forget/have no time to do the miscellaneous things that we want to do

For example, I wanted to take part in the Good Eye Deer T-shirt Design competition and told myself that I'll start working on it after my Maths exam. However, ITP made me completely forget about it until last night when it suddenly returned to my memory. I checked out the website just now and the closing date is today. Diao...Too late already

But then again ITP means working and sooner or later all of us will have to be working one day. SO does that mean that all our free time will have to be sacrificed? If so, than shouldn't we enjoy when we are still students? But do students really enjoy being students? And do working adults prefer going back to school?

Hi my name is Raymond and I think I am addicted to K-pop. Ok it's just a tiny bit only. Yes, I mean like I only do the Sorry Sorry dance every morning after I wake up, croon Gee and Oh! when I am on the bus, belt out Ring Ding Dong when I am showering and of course, sing and dance Nobody when there is nobody around

Is that enough to consider that I am addicted? No, I don't think so. At least I don't rush to attend concerts like some crazy teenage boy. At least I don't write a whole chunk of status update in Facebook depicting my K-pop experience. And at the very least, I believe with my voice, I can sing Oh! very well that people will think that I am the number ten member of SNSD if they do not see my face

In fact, I don't even know who's who in SNSD or Super Junior. I just know that they have more members than a basketball team. Everyday I practise singing Ring Ding Dong but until now the only lyrics which I can pronounce properly is really just "ring", "ding" and "dong" and I say them with a Korean slang

Then I tried singing Wedding Dress but I always end up like I was trying to be a racist by singing "nigger" during the chorus. I always wonder how Rain sculpted that figure of his which has zero percent body fat and believed that it is all Photoshop to console myself

Oh yes, I forgot to mention about watching Korean dramas. The only drama from Korea which I really watched was Princess Hours and that was four years ago. After that, I never watched an entire korean show again

So I think I haven't fall into the K-pop addiction hole. I still prefer sambal chilli over kimchi. By the way, I realized that I forgot to do something. I have yet to practise the Sorry Sorry dance today

5th day of ITP

Fifth day of ITP and I finally started to work, as in officially. It is the first day of working but I already feel that it is a bit dull somehow. Must look for some things to do to spice up my office life

Thinking back about a few months ago, I should have went to apply for ITP at more exciting places like hospitals or maybe Mediacorp. The past few days I've been thinking, if I was attached to a hospital, it will look so cool

Like when people ask you "eh where your ITP at ah" and you reply it is at NUS or SGH or Gleneagles or whatever, the person will like shout "WOW" in his head. Then if he continues to ask what are you working as you can bullshit and say you are a trainee doctor or something

Or maybe if you say you are at Mediacorp then they will start asking you "wah which celebrity did you see? got see XXX or not?" Again, you can bullshit and say "yeah I took pictures with XXX and got helped XXX buy lunch when she was filming"

Unfortunately, most of us are stuck in an office or air-con room so our exposure is quite limited unless we have ample time to surf the internet

So in a nutshell, my first week of ITP was pretty peaceful and a bit boring

4th day of ITP

Cheapest ever vending machine selling drinks in Singapore

Today, I am still on training. But it was only in the morning. Then in the afternoon they told me to read up such past records logged by the staff there to understand better. It was like a self-studying thing, own time own target. So for the afternoon, I was just sitting at the desk reading what my colleagues were writing and trying to see if anything sounds logical

Unfortunately reading too much text will make my brain protest and I started to feel sleepy. So I decided to walk around and talk with the people there. There were a couple of them who just finished their A levels (so should be same age as me), another three who just ORD-ed and the rest were mainly adults

I decided to touch my log book at last and I jotted down the things I did for day one to day four. There was not even enough space for me to write so I had to shorten my exciting stories somehow. More exciting stories coming soon

3rd day of ITP

Third day of ITP and I am still on training since Monday. I think there will still be training tomorrow but the trainer who trained me since Monday told me that she is on leave for tomorrow and Friday. The other trainer is on MC for today and tomorrow

Maybe they (supervisor) will just throw me onto the battlefield tomorrow since I already have a bit of knowledge. But I would like to emphasize that it is only a bit. Maybe one megabyte. Hope many more megabtyes will come in soon

I am a very loyal person by nature. For example I am Singaporean, I will support Singapore even if they are the confirm-will-kena-thrashed underdogs in a match. I am from SP and even though my hobby is criticizing my school, I still stand by it during arguments with others

So for my company, I think I will pia all the way since I have a contract with them. Just do it or don't do it. Impossible is nothing. I am what I am. Eh, why am I listing out all the slogans of sports brands?

Today I called Nas in the afternoon to kill time since the office telephone is free of charge and he seemed quite busy from the way he talk. Luckily people like Zhiteng and I got "easier" jobs but I believe I am still more lucky than him

It is better to get an easy job for ITP since most of us are working from a nine to five schedule and getting equally pathetic salaries that discourage ourselves

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

2nd day of ITP

Second day of ITP not much of a difference from the first day except that I didn't need to sign any forms and my zip was in place. However, I think I have a lot of things to pen down in my log book already after a couple of days. Maybe the space given in the book is not enough for me to write

Let's see what's in store for third day

Monday, March 08, 2010

1st day of ITP

My first day of ITP was very boring. Just eat eat eat, surf the net, shake leg and sign a whole lot of forms. There was free breakfast, free buffet lunch and free tea break, all sponsored by the company. Just don't have free dinner only but eating the first three is enough to make you skip dinner already

Actually, I think the most interesting part of the day was in the morning while I was on my way to the workplace. I realized that my pants was unzipped. Ok, I think you are laughing now but it was really erm, malu. Luckily, nobody noticed it when I noticed it so i quickly zeeep up and then act normal. However, I don't know if anyone noticed it while I was walking before I noticed it

And I signed my signature for like countless of times today. There were so many forms. Some I bothered to read others which had a thousand words I just signed on the line without taking a look at it. At least the place is near to my house and there are many free things to eat so my day wasn't that bad after all

Ok that's all for my first day

Janice

As a man of my words and since I have no excuse to be busy as exams are over, I have decided to write the post about Janice as requested by her

After much consideration, I have decided not to use any photos as it looks awkward to do so. Also, I will be taking up a lot of time choosing which photo to use

So let's start with my first impression of her or rather the first time I saw her. The first time I saw her, I only saw her back. Just a normal human back that belongs to someone of dark (erm, I mean tanned) skin.
Actually, she was on the same bus as me but I didn't realize it until Karen told me that that girl in front was so and so when we alighted. Ok, luckily she doesn't look very tall, a voice in my head told me

Then the second time when I saw her, excluding from far away, was when she came into the pantry where I was secretly eating a banana or some other fruit I think. Then we talk lor. Like that lor. Talk about ourselves lor but more about me I believe

Through my observation, I can conclude that Janice is the typical Singapore ang moh teenage girl who rarely reads Chinese, loves Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, adores shopping and hanging out with girlfriends, always having some unknown problem that everyone is aware but nobody knows what it is and last but not least, she falls into the category of people who love dancing

She is still quite "tender" (嫩) to the working world. Joining the company was like an enormous eye-opener for her and she thinks that it has changed her life somehow. Her life didn't change of course, it was she herself who transformed from all the never-before exposure

As her age is quite a fair younger than the others, she finds herself enjoying the experience, it is a totally different experience and some more it is a working experience and I am speaking from my experience if you manage to catch me

She still needs more roughing. Her confidence is there which is good. She is kind in nature but better don't try to offend her. And never comment about her singing

Oh did I miss out anything? Erm, maybe her handphone's techno ringtone. Sometimes, it is quite annoying when it rings in the office. Sometimes only ok? Sometimes...

4 March

Today I went to watch Alice in Wonderland and I think it is much better than Avatar which has nothing but blue aliens. Alice in Wonderland the movie is about Alice returning to Wonderland after ten years when she first visited it

Yeah, that's all I'm going to share. Want to know more? Then go and watch it. I am not like your average blogger friend who would act as if he is some movie critic commenting about every single detail of his movie-going experience including the buying of popcorn

Ok, Singapore lost to Jordan and they have lost my faith in them. Useless Lions, last hurdle also cannot jump over. What is the use of foreign talents when we can't even beat teams who have an entire pool of locals? And I need not mention that the coach is a foreigner right?

3 March

I found this brochure outside my house when I opened the door just now. Anybody believe it? I don't

***

Today is the last day of my exams. It was Maths and it is probably the last official Maths exam in my life. Now, after exams, I have a lot of things to do. First and foremost is to write (I don't if it's written and typed out) the introductory letter which I will have to bring with me on the first day of my ITP next week. I think I am going to write a very chim one

Bye

Pizza Hut challenge

Taken from www.pizzahut.com.sg

Have you seen the latest Pizza Hut commercial on TV? They are having a "Guarantee Challenge" event where if the customer's pizza is not hot, Pizza Hut will supply them with one year of free pizzas. However, it is only within a limited period from now till the end of the month (31 March)

Maybe some attention seeker like Kitchen Tigress will take up the challenge and try to find fault with the delivery guy that the temperature of the food is not high enough. Kitchen Tigress (I don't understand why is she so afraid to reveal her real identity since she wants attention so much) challenged OCBC in January that the bank would buy her a birthday cake on her birthday. The bank's staff did bought one for her in the end and her blog received tons of criticisms and praises. I think she deserves to be criticized

Anyway, back to the fast food restaurant, Pizza Hut's special nylon hot pouch keeps the pizza warm when it is on its way to its destination plus it has insulated heating elements to maintain the temperature. If anyone wants to be Kitchen Tigress No.2 and take on Pizza Hut, I doubt he/she will succeed. Pizza Hut will be making sure that all its pizzas are heat-locked during the challenge period. Moreover, the technology used is too tough for any human tongue to break

1 Mar

Countdown to the final seven days before I start my ITP. Next week this time, I will most probably be going home from the workplace. Seems that everybody is being posted to different places. Some are staying in the west but are posted to some unknown place in the east. Some are posted to a shopping centre that they had never even heard of before

Went to school to study Maths today. I still don't understand how Laplace transform will benefit us in our lives. It is about moments, more of a physics and mechanical approach. Anyway, I always think of kueh lapis whenever I see/hear Laplace transform before switching my mind back to Maths

Ok, Canada won the ice hockey gold medal in the Winter Olympics after beating America. They should win anyway since ice hockey is their national sport and they are the hosts. Oh yes and congratulations to South Korea for winning some figure skating event I believe. The news was all about a girl crying after she clinched the gold

I don't have a in-depth knowledge about winter sports since I live in a country which is quite near to the equator. But one thing for sure, I love air-con
