Poem Singapore 2009

I am trying my hand at poetry. Please rate how well or lousy it is, so that I can improve myself. Whether it's a good or bad comment, just bring horse over lah!

Two thousand and nine
I held a glass of wine
and walked to the balcony
with thoughts in my mind

It has been a long year
the place where we're living here
is still pretty much the same
but some events happened here gained fame

A mass replacement of ez-link cards
Singaporeans found doing it very hard
waited for the final few days
before making a move
brainless that's all one can say

Pioneer and Joo Koon were opened
people working in Tuas cheered
Boon Lay was no longer the terminus
some still didn't realize it isn't

Geyland Serai temporary market
mass food poisoning that left two dead
more than a hundred were affected
an islandwide news sensation erupted

Circle Line opened on May twenty-eight
but only five stations started to operate
From Marymount to Bartley
this orange line made many happy

Singapore Cable Car closes down
Tourists and locals started to frown
Upgrading was the real reason behind
let's wait and see what we can find

Ion Orchard finally opens
people flooded the area like headless chickens
branded goods were all there man
it's just how much you can spend

APEC'09 was held in November
the venue was filled with ministers
it was a success as expected
as our country has hardly failed

China will loan us two pandas
they will only come in a few years
so for now don't get too excited
