Star Awards 2010 will be held tomorrow night at Resorts World Sentosa. As for today, this blog will be having a prize presentation for winners of alternative titles in the media industry. Let the ceremony begin
Most Lucky Artiste: Chen Hanwei
The versatile actor gets all the good roles and plays them well. From an ah beng gambler to a squeaky clean teacher to a very "auntie" uncle, he has excelled in all of them
Always a sure-in for the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes and a good bet for the Best Male Actor award so long as he is nominated
Who else has more luck than him? By the way, he's already past forty years old
Most Demure Actress: Jeanette Aw
Omg! You don't even need three seconds for her name to come up in your mind for this award. Tested and proven, this little nyonya (on TV) is best at acting demure, take note of the verb "act"
In dramas like The Little Nyonya and Together, she is always portraying a sweet and soft image which puts Tae Yeon, Yoona and co. to shame. But take a look at other productions like The Champion, Rainbow Connection and Rhythm of Life which she stars in. She looks much more pleasant in them
I don't think Rui En will ever be able to act like her, in terms of being demure I mean
Not-you-again? Award: Xiang Yun
Frankly speaking, I really don't see much potential in her, or maybe her potential energy has transformed into wind energy already. I don't understand why is she always nominated
When she won the Best Supporting Female Actress last year, my jaws dropped like how LeBron James does a slamdunk. The most disturbing part of watching Star Awards annually is seeing her receive the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste award time and again
Sometimes, some people are willing to fork out a little something in order to win a little something else
Comeback Queen Award: Ann Kok
This one is quite debatable but I will go for whoever I think of first and I believe Auntie Ann Kok deserves it
Many people think that it was a large breakthrough for her after playing a housewife in Housewives' Holiday. She has not won the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste award for more than a decade
She starred in a telemovie this year and has two new dramas in her schedule for 2010
This year looks like a positive turning point for her although at a mature age of 37
Just So Suay Award: Tay Ping Hui
Nominated every year. Disappointed every year. The complete opposite of Chen Hanwei only that he is taller and bulkier
He doesn't always get the good roles but is still able to earn himself a nomination in the Best Actor category only to be defeated by different male colleagues year after year
So to console him after much sympathy, I decided to present him this award. At least Chen Hanwei doesn't get to win it right?
Act Cool Only Award: Rui En
Just like how she cannot imitate Jeanette Aw, the latter will never be able to follow her style either
Always portraying a cold image to the public excluding in dramas. She looks unapproachable for 364 days a year (I decided to cancel out one day for her birthday)
I don't know what else to talk about her. The glacier is too tough to melt. We need some global warming for this particular case
Nothing Left To Give Award: Felicia Chin and Joanne Peh
Three of the seven princesses have left Mediacorp. Two of the remaining four have received an award already. To avoid angering fans of the other two remaining princesses, I was obliged to make this award specially for them
You see, the local entertainment circle has frequently been a case of everybody-also-win like what we saw in the first show of this year's Star Awards last week
Young and good-looking artistes have a considerable amount of fans. Since pleasing the artiste would be equivalent to pleasing the fans, why not kill two birds with one stone (or satisfy two groups of people with one award)
Congrats to Felicia for still being so calm after numerous claims that she has undergo plastic surgery. As for Joanne, congrats for erm, being the most decent looking one among all the Mediacorp princesses
