Most Versatile Ingredient

What is the most versatile ingredient when it comes to cooking?

Eggs? Because you can fried. steam, half-boil, hard-boil, poach or blanch them. If you want your way, you can even eat them raw. I'm not sure if we can eat the shell as well but it seems alright.

Or maybe potatoes? There are a wide variety of dishes/food which consist of this crop. Like mashed potatoes, french fries, potato soup, curry puffs etc. It is also one of the most widely eaten food in all continents.

How about bread? Most of us consume this flour-made product for breakfast every morning. It is the staple food in Europe, America and parts of Africa. It is more convenient to eat and you can eat it with anything you like.

Let's not forget the beans. Red bean, green bean, yellow bean, black bean and many more. Asians as well as the Americans and Europeans love cooking it. Beans are even more versatile as they can made into a dish or drink.

Actually, there is no such thing as the most versatile ingredient in the world. Everything is unique. The only two things we definitely need for cooking are salt and sugar.

Ok, you can add chilli in too if you a Singaporean.
