Interesting alternatives to DPM Wong's resignation

RealBlurPolitics® is back. Today is the 27th of Feburary. Many people might think that it is just another day but one man certainly will remember it for a long time. He is none other than our Home Affairs minister and Deputy PM, Wong Kan Seng. No, it is not his birthday, not his wedding anniversary nor the day he got to shake Andy Lau's hand. It is the day the mighty and invincible, one and only, limping Mas Selamat bin Kastari escaped from the Internal Security Department's Whitley Road Detention Centre exactly one year ago

If you had forgotten the story or misunderstood his name, he does not come from a family that sells nasi lemak which sounds like his name. He is a terrorist! To be more specific, he is the alleged head of the local branch of Jemaah Islamiah(JI), JI is actually a terrorist organization in case you would like to know. At 4.05pm which around the time this post is made, Mas Selamat fled the detention centre. It was a planned move executed perfectly by the director and actor himself with precision. He took advantage of the blurness of the officers and loose security there for his escape. By the way, the public only knew about this incident after four hours of it's occurrence so maybe he is already on some speedboat on the way back to Indonesia by then although our government does not want to admit it

Mas Selamat became an overnight celebrity in the country. Posters of him were seen almost everywhere from buses to MRT stations to shopping centres to coffee shops to wherever there are people and brochures were distributed by volunteers to the public which all accumulated to a high wastage of paper since he is still at large. M1, Singtel and Starhub even became friends for the first time by sending out MMS messages to their subscribers with the terrorist's handsome photo accompanied by the usual "call 999 immediately" kind of words. But I have yet to receive the MMS till today and I am still waiting for my dear Singtel to do it after a year

Our nation is famous for being super tight in security and lapses like this are extremely rare. So most of the blame had to be on Mr Wong since it is his tiny subordinates that had let him down. There has been talk that he should resign for this serious security lapse but he did not as I expected

So here we share with you some interesting alternatives to DPM Wong's resignation

Make him say the phrase "Nasi Lemak Mas Selamat" 100 times continuously, a wrong pronunciation and he has to start from zero

Ask him to demonstrate the stunt Mas Selamt made went he escaped from the toilet window

Assign him to clean the PM's office for one month every morning

The transport Minister will install an ERP gantry just outside his house

The health Minister will only let him use his Medisave when he is 90 years old

The defence Minister shall practice his commando dunking technique on him

The law Minister forces him to memorize the entire book on the country's laws

The infocomm Arts minister bans him from watching TV, terminates all internet connection in his house and confiscates all his family member's handphones

The sports minister makes him sponsor half of the Youth Olympics expenditure

The education minister will have him build a new primary school

The trade minister makes him pay twenty percent gst for whatever he purchases

The national development minister makes him a gardener at the botanic gardens

The manpower minister cuts his CPF savings by half

The finance minister makes him count thousands of dollar notes with his bare hands

The environment minister makes him clean areas which are dengue hot spots

The foreign affairs minister wants him to swim to a neighbouring country and swim back

The winner is so obvious

The winner is so obvious!

Pictures taken from www.guardian.co.uk(Don't wanna get sued for plagiarism)

When to school to play soccer with my classmates in the morning. It's been a long time since I last kicked a ball, the previous time I did it was about nine months ago with the same people at the same place. At first, the ball kept screwing off my foot and i ended up shooting off target. This is the evidence that my skills are all rusty already compared to secondary school. Anyway I feel rather tired after playing so I shall stop here

One more thing, i think the feather hat in Pet Society looks very stupid

25 Feb

Today during noon, I saw Daryl, Kevin and the others at Clementi Central and they all had the same question to ask me. When will I be going back? My reply is the same to all of them, soon. Days without school or exams are so dull and boring. Wake up in the morning at 8am, force myself do some exercise, then eat breakfast while watching Primetime Morning on Channel NewsAsia. Then went to check the Inter Milan and Man United match and I was a bit sad with the result because the red devils did not kena thrashed by the Italian giants

Then switched on the computer and login to Facebook as usual only to find out that Pet Society is under maintenance and I cannot see my pet, let alone feed her so I think she is starving now. I will try again later to see if it is ok. So I decided to change direction and play Big 2.5 on Viwawa instead. Won some games and lost quite a lot but those are virtual money anyway so it didn't really bother me as I was just practising my skills

I thought of a sentence today that makes sense. When you have internet connection, you find that you have nothing to do. When you do not have internet connection, you also find that you have nothing to do. Ironic isn't it?

TV analysis: Star Awards 2009, The Dream-catchers

Now that I am done with my exams, I will have more time for this blog. So stayed tuned for more exciting content right here

First of all, I would like to congratulate Slumdog Millionaire on winning best picture at the 81st Academy Awards. I was expecting it to beat the other nominees which include Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader and last but not least, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The latter is all about the hype of Brad Pitt and nothing else excites the audience. It is all him here and there in the whole movie. If Brad Pitt was not part of it, I think the film will be pretty dull and not as hyped up as it is now

Slumdog Millionaire is more "slice of life". At least the characters in it are realistic and do grow from old to young which is I think is really dumb creativity. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has only one main point to attract potential movie go-ers, that is the gostun way of Brad Pitt's life. Like what Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times said "The movie's premise devalues any relationship, makes futile any friendship or romance, and spits, not into the face of destiny, but backward into the maw of time." By the way, he gave the film two and a half stars only

So you should know which film to watch if you have yet to make up your mind(eating too much KFC is unhealthy, that's why I'm not advising you to do it this time). I have spoken, the Oscars have recognized, Slumdog Millionaire rules! Back to the topic on Oscars, I was sitting in front of the TV during noon yesterday, eagerly awaiting Steven Spielberg to announce the winner. He crapped a lot of stuffs on filming here and there(maybe to kill time), then the nominees video was super duper long until I was a bit pek chek. Then the telephone rang and I went to answer. When I hung up and returned to the TV, all those indian and ang moh actors were already making their way up on stage so I knew who the winner was but I missed the exact moment again, just like when Obama became president.

More TV analysis coming up...

We shall take a commercial break first

*Sorry that all the words are in Chinese

What can I say about it? Sort of disappointing but it was not unexpected. The Little Nyonya swept the majority of the nominations. Take a look at the Best Supporting Actress list for example, it is just one 肉骨妹(蔡佩璇) vs. the whole bunch from TLN. I do not understand why Chew Chor Meng didn't make it into the Best Actor Category, he played a big part in The Golden Path and only got nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Another big reaction from myself when I first saw the list was Felicia Chin. How did she manage to get nominated? I sense there is some secret here. Anyway, I have just one hope which is The Little Nyonya doesn't get to win any award. Until today, I don't get it what is the big fuss over this Peranakan themed drama. Jeanette Aw is still a log no matter which drama she acts in and all those dumb storylines in the show

I will give a more detailed analysis in the next few days about the Star Awards

As requested by Teck Cheong, I shall give a review on The Dream-catchers(未来不是梦). This drama is something like Liverpool FC. Before everything started, it will boast that it is very good and at the beginning of the show, it was considered quite interesting. But as time goes by, people get bored of it because the plot does not have a really exciting part which is hard to anticipate. People started watching because it is different from the ordinary family kind of dramas. The genre here is engineering which is quite new and fresh for people to watch but it can be emphasized even more

For the characters, i still prefer Rui En with her long and coloured hair. Her bob hairstyle in the show makes her lose the limelight among other female actresses. You can google it yourself to compare

As for Paige Chua who acted as a tomboy, she did managed to do a good job I must say but she still showed a glimpse of her feminine side which means there is still room for improvement

As for Dawn Yeoh, I think she is seriously not the dancing type. She looks rather stiff on TV when she dances. Well, but she combined well with Nat Ho in the drama

Elvin Ng deserves a thumbs up from me for his Japanese character. He speaks fluently like a "Jap-Chi", making pauses at the right moments when talking which really made him look like someone for the land of the rising sun

The other actors like Shaun Chen, Tay Ping Hui, Jessica Liu, I have no comments for them. Just wanna say Tay Ping Hui looks the same in every drama he is in no matter what character he is acting as

That's all for today. Don't forget to catch the Uefa Champions League

Football analysis: Aston Villa vs. Chelsea

Since it's raining and I'm stuck at home, I shall give you all some football analysis. This weekend's big match is none other than third placed Aston Villa vs fourth placed Chelsea. Chelsea have been rocked with numerous problems recently and with the new coach, Guus Hiddink, in charge of his first game today, the players will surely want to prove to him that who is better

Chelsea should keep things simple and play the traditional 4-4-2 formation. Forget about 4-3-3 which would either make Didier Drogba or Nicolas Anelka unhappy as one of them gets to play while the other does not. Put both of them together in front as the centre forwards with the wingers providing ammunition from the flanks

Ricardo Quaresma should start since the Blues do not have much options on the wing. I would put him on the right where he can send deep crosses or cut into the penalty box and shoot using the trivela technique which he specializes in. On the left, it would be Michael Ballack since he can fit into any position of the midfield. Florent Malouda does not deserve to play even though he is more of a natural winger and operates with his left foot. He is a complete pale shadow of his form when he was in Lyon and I think Khairul Amri is better than him

Frank Lampard and John Obi Mikel will take up the central midfield positions with the latter protecting the back four and Lampard as the playmaker. The back four would be Branislav Ivanović as left back for the suspended Ashley Cole, José Bosingwa on the right and John Terry and Alex will fill in the centre. Goalkeeper is Petr Čech of course

On the other side, Villa have the invincible Ashley Young who crosses with pin-point accuracy. With two big fellows, Emile Heskey and John Carew, as strikers waiting in the penalty box, Terry and Co. will have a busy day defending. Not to mention Gabriel Agbonlahor, the rising star of England, who has formed a successful strike partnership with the big Carew

Who else is worth noticing from the Villa squad. There is James Milner, Stiliyan Petrov and the almost Liverpool player, Gareth Barry. With so many stars from both teams, it will be interesting to see who wins. My pick? It will be a 1:1 stalemate with Chelsea scoring first thanks to Lampard before Villa equalize through Agbonlahor

Check out the battleground

Today I went to T3A at the other end of the school near Dover to check out the battleground(examination venue). The last exam which separates me from the holidays will be held there at a stupid time of 6pm in the evening next Monday. So stupid right? This means that the dinner timeslot in my daily timetable has to be reshuffled, I am not the type who can tahan hunger. Anyway, the room looks alright in a whole and is rather pleasant. There was a paper pasted outside stating that seat numbers 91 to 135 if I remember correctly

This means that there are 45 seats in there and assuming one row has 5 students, then there will be nine rows. I hope the order begins from the back so that I will have a better chance of sitting behind since my number is considered quite in front between 91 to 135

T3A is just a stone's throw away from Foodcourt 1 which I think is the weirdest foodcourt in SP. The taps there are not the ordinary kind where you press a button or turn a handle or just put your hands there for the sensor to detect. It has a small handle which looks like a ring where you need to turn it. At first, I thought it was those auto kind so I just placed my hands there expecting water to flow out. Then when I saw the guy beside me use it, I felt so malu like an idiot standing there. Then one more problem when turning it off, 9 out of 10 new users will turn it the wrong way and end up splashing even more water in the basin instead of turning it off. Maybe I will take a photo next time to explain it clearer

What else is weird? The positioning of the stalls. This one is too complex to explain in words, if possible, I will show you all a photo of it. Other weird things? There are many birds there, is this considered a weird thing? Well, because I don't see any birds in all the other foodcourts before

Now that I have studied the battleground, it's time to go study the strategy and tactics

Retrench your calculator

Bought a new calculator today. The brand is Sharp and the model number is EL-509WM, the evolution of my current one which is EL-509VM. Numbers aside, I bought a new one to play safe for my upcoming Maths exam. The old one has been with me for more than two and a half years, solving numerous maths questions for me and helping me calculate things when I'm lazy to do it. His name is Sam which I cannot remember how it came about so I shall call my new one Sally

Past and Present: Sam(left) and Sally(right)

Sally is so white and posh(maybe because she's new)so she should be be a female. The main difference between both of them is the colour, everything else looks the same to me. In times like this, companies are retrenching employees every now and then. So I thought it was time to retrench old Sam

Here is the farewell letter to Sam

***

To: Sam

I, your owner(the management), hereby terminate our partnership due to times of uncertainty like this. It was with deep regret and utmost sadness that the management informs you that your current post is now redundant. With immediate effect, the management is clearing all unnecessary staff to ensure the long-term financial viability of the our bank account

The undesirable situation painted us into a financial corner. We were positive that these measures will boost the company in many aspects and they were only done after long periods of consideration. We would like to thank you for the services you have rendered and wish you good luck in your future endeavours

Yours faithfully
Owner(the management)

***

Ok, I will not terminate my partnership with him entirely but currently. He will still be considered for reinstatement should there be another position similar to his in the future

Total Defence Day

The highlight of today happened when I went for jogging at the Clementi Stadium in the evening. I saw Home United FC's team training there and it is their first team. At first, I did not really bother that bunch of twenty odd people passing balls to each other on the field. I thought that they were just another amateur team from some local amateur league struggling under the blazing sun while harbouring thin hopes that they will eventually play at some top team in the world. Anyway, I first noticed them because of their fat Indian coach, he passed me while I was jogging on the track and with one look, I confirmed that it was P.N. Sivaji and the Home United team

My confirmation was further confirmed when I saw the towering Lionel Lewis do his trademark "pulling his pants" while practising saving shots with another goalkeeper. He was so tall in real, much taller than how he looks like on TV. Then I saw, Kengne Ludovick, Shahril Ishak and this only Chinese guy whom I am not sure whether is Shi Jia Yi or Goh Swee Swee(one of Wai Yuen and Jian Nan's most hated footballers). I thought I saw an ang moh who is Peres De Oliveira but he was a bit too far from me so I don't know if it's him. There were also some younger players whom I assume are from the youth academy, they only got less than one quarter of the field to train while the senior players had half of it

Today is also Total Defence Day, hope everybody remember this day and not forget it's meaning

Last week of year one

This is the last week of the semester

Technically, it should be the last week of year one. After this week come the examinations that everybody is waiting for(to pass quickly)so eagerly. There goes another day, another week, another month and so on until it all accumulates to one year. In year two, it will be new class, new friends, new teachers and the list goes on

Last but not least. To Nasrullah, you finally have a Facebook account after my everlasting nagging. Hope you will enjoy using it and believe me, you will love it more than Friendster

Challenge

Recently, I am sort of addicted to this challenge thing with Zhi Teng. We challenge almost anything which can be challenged. Whether we are sitting in class, eating in the foodcourt or walking to the MRT station. Actually, the more appropriate word should be bet but since no money was involved, I think challenge sounds more suitable

So what are the challenges? When we switch on our lappies, we will challenge whose(Compaq vs. Acer)can login to Windows XP faster after typing the username and password. I have an unbeaten record in this. Then we will see who can login to MSN quicker after clicking the sign in button at the same time. I always win in this too. We will see whose Firefox browser starts first and I am again the winner every time. Today, Zhi Teng came up with a new challenge which I lost. We decided to see who can enter SP's website quicker. I knew I would lose since I do not go there hence my browser does not have the cookies. But I still entertained him to let him win at least something

Then in the foodcourt, we challenged who can pour his Coke exactly at the brim of the cup without pausing halfway. This one is a tie. Then we can even have a photography challenge which I must say I 甘拜下风. Today, we challenged who can take a better photo of a housefly which was "eating" the leftover french fries on Zhi Teng plate. My photo was blur and I only managed to capture the back of it. I shall not post the photos here as they are a bit disgusting

Our all time favourite is guessing the colour of the MRT train that is approaching the Dover station. Everytime I will take black and he will take white and most of times I win. Today, we had another new challenge which is to guess the time remaining for the next train to arrive. Zhi Teng said three while I said two. We decided to go according to the TV at the platform instead of the one at the ezlink card tapping place downstairs. Actually I won, not because of two Indian women in front of me having problem tapping their cards so the time was delayed a bit

There will be more challenges to come

Sunday, February 08, 2009

8 Feb

It has been quite an entertaining week so far. Micheal Phelps went from hero to zero with his marijuana, Robbie Keane's shocking return to Tottenham, Barisan Nasional wants back Perak, Temasek Holdings have a new CEO and last but not least, the big toto draw

So did you win? I did not because I never placed a bet at all. I am still underage for it and could not find a kor kor or jie jie to help me buy before Friday evening. Anyway, I don't think I will win it either so I guess I saved at least ten bucks. Thinking back, I wonder who will be so dumb to queue for me the entire afternoon just to get a white and pink ticket that has a(permutate the numbers yourself)probability of winning

Yeah, now Liverpool are first in the Premier League but I doubt they can last in that position until tomorrow morning because Manchester United should finish off West Ham tonight. I shall stop here for the day

Lights out, goodnight

My plant

Hi all check out my new plant. It is actually a green bean. I wanted to share it with you all but it slipped of my mind. I had started growing it exactly two weeks ago and it's current nickname is Peter Crouch, the beanpole striker. It is lanky just like the guy himself. If I think of a better name, I will change it

By the way, if you have yet to decide whether to watch 幸福万岁(Love Matters) or 大囍事(The Wedding Game), my suggestion to you is not to watch both of them. Save the $8.50 and use it to spent on the $5.50 KFC meal or what do you call it? It is much more worth it. You can still socialize with your friends while eating it and at least it fills you up. If you watch a movie, this cannot be guranteed. Trade the potato whip for cheese fries. It will costs an additional $1.50 but it is still worth it I think

5 Feb

Went to school at 10am today because there are no more 8am-10am Oral Communication classes. The old witch was late for her lecture with us, I think she should just retire and collect her CPF and spent her remaining numbered days at home. After Maths, Vernon, Hui Yu, Zhi Teng and I went to Foodcourt 2 for lunch. The environment there was still as cosy as it is but the area where we were seated was rather hot. I ordered the tom yam fish bee hoon and had some misunderstanding with the uncle and auntie selling it. They did not understand my order and argued that I should say it in another way

Overall, it did not made me full but after drinking anything, I was really bloated. Yes, it is called anything. The long forgotten and once popular canned drink. Zhi Teng and I ordered one each. Mine was just ordinary Coke while his was orange juice. Both of us could not finish the whole can at all, there was about a quarter left but we were too full. Anyway, we took a picture of our drinks

And we took another one. This is what you get when you mix orange juice and Coke together. We did not want to waste the drinks so we might as well do something interesting

Hmmm, today I wore a maroon shirt with matching shoes which are maroon colour too and I felt that many people were looking at my attire when I walk past them, or is it just my imagination?

Anyway, quick check on bowling ball a.k.a. Shin Jen's blog, still zero comments which means nobody wants to make the first move

That's all for today

Wednesday, February 04, 2009

4 Feb

Sian ah! Nobody is updating their blogs.....except for me. So I am here to do it now for you all

Did you read about the news where Wen Jia Bao had a shoe thrown towards him while he was in England? His reaction after this shocking incident was rather commendable. He was calm before, during and after the event took place at Cambridge University

I think the person who threw the shoe should go practise his aiming skills at home before doing it again. Maybe he can email the Iraq reporter who did the same thing to George Bush for advice, that hero in his country has a better accuracy. Also, where was his creativity? Throwing shoes is out of fashion as somebody has already done it before him. There are so many other things to throw in the world. So my suggestion to him is that he practise his throwing and think of some new ideas

Anyway, someone made me a little 反感(uneasy/uncomfortable)today. He said he will call me but I waited for one hour but nothing happened. In the end I called him back and he said that he was about to go home already. Never mind about this person, let's talk about other things

Shin Jen(lecturer)wanted us to comment about him on his blog in the morning during our lesson. I checked it a moment ago and as expected, there were zero comments so far. It is not that we have no ideas what to write but someone has to make the first move and it will not be me because I have already done it last semester

By the way, today is Facebook's 5th birthday. So let me sing a birthday song to him/her/it here

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to Facebook
Happy Birthday to you

*claps claps*

Wonder if Mark Zuckerberg can hear me from his side

So who is the best player ever in the current Manchester United squad? Many people, whether they are Man U fans or not, will agree that it is Cristiano Ronaldo

Take a few steps back and you will realize there are others who are equally good during the past and present. Although the Portuguese enjoys all the glitz and glamour at Old Trafford, there is one player whom I believe is more worthy of my respect(and he does not crash his car)

So who could it be? Rio Ferdinand? No, he served an eight month ban for pontang-ing a drug test in 2003 and has committed several driving offences. Gary Neville the captain? He spends more time in the treatment room than on the field. Dimitar Berbatov? He's too new to even be considered. Wayne Rooney? Nah, put this balding guy in the backseat of Ronaldo's car and let them crash together. Park Ji Sung? He was not even a substitute in the 2008 Champions League final

Who is it then?

Ryan Giggs!

No it's not him, haha

I have to admit that he is a legend and has world class skills. But, he has shown everybody that age is catching up on him. His pace has slowed down in recent years and so has his stamina. In a whole, he is still a popular player in the football world and has numerous supporters all over the world

Alright, so who the heck is the guy?

You should have guessed it by now if you have realized that one VIP(very important player)name is still missing

Paul Scholes

All hail the ginger prince!

Scholes is a complete midfielder, enough said. His only weakness which has bugged him throughout this career is his temper. He is renowned for getting red cards and resorting to violence on the field at times but at least he does not drive recklessly

Here are some quotes from other notable people from the game, my favourite is the one by Thierry Henry

PATRICK VIEIRA - "The player in the Premiership I admire most? Easy - Scholes".

THIERRY HENRY - "I can't understand why Scholes has never won the player of the year award. He should have won it long ago. Maybe it's because he doesn't seek the limelight like some of the other "stars".

ZINEDINE ZIDANE- "My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder".

DAVID BECKHAM - "He's always one of those people others talk about. Even playing at Real Madrid, the players always say to me 'What's he like'? They respect him as a footballer and to have that respect from some of those players is great. He always creates space and gets into the right places at the right time".

And from the reckless driver himself

CRISTIANO RONALDO - "He is a fantastic player - a key player in many games. He helps the team a lot. You learn many things from him as he is a mature player and has been at United a long time. It is always fantastic to play alongside someone of his quality".

Paul Scholes was part of the 1990s Fergie's Fledglings, who are talented young players coming from the youth system. They include David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Scholes himself and many more

Puzzled

When I browsed through my previous posts in blogger.com just now, I noticed that there were two comments in the 22/1/2009. Both were on 29/1/2009 at 11.23pm and 11.24pm. The first one was deleted. The shocking thing about this is that the person who commented is someone whom I don't even know. He was kind enough to comment with his blogger account for me to see who he is. His name is called Ephraim and I don't remeber I had any friend with that name, the only thing that we are sort of related is that we are both from Singapore Polytechnic but he graduated in 2002

Here's the link to that post for you to take a look

Ephraim, if you are reading this now, please tell me how did you manage to get to this blog and who are you?

Liverpool vs Chelsea

LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA

Who will win? Of course it's Liverpool as I am their fan but I shall justify my stand

Firstly, the match is played at Anfield, the noisy stadium of the Reds

Secondly, they have beaten Chelsea this season at Stamford Bridge, the once invincible ground of the Blues

Thirdly, the Reds look like a more complete team than the Blues in every department

Finally, they will win 1:0

I was playing chinese chess with my Sec 1 cousin earlier in the afternoon. We are both Liverpool fans but he thinks Chelsea will win while I think the opposite. So we decided to let a game of chess determine the final score tonight. We used 11 chess pieces by taking out the 5 pawns. There is the king(goalkeeper), 2 "si"(central defenders), 2 elephants(full backs), 2 horses(central midfielders), 2 cannons(wingers)and 2 cars(strikers)

The winner of the game is the person who predicted correctly and I won. The checkmate(goal)was a combination of a cannon(winger), car(striker) and(horse)midfielder. From the way the checkmate was made, we can conclude that a Liverpool winger will shoot the ball high up from his own half into the opposition's penalty box. The goalkeeper will be unable to save it as he is pressurized by the striker and the midfielder, left unmarked, scores from close range

Translated into real life, it is roughly something like Dirk Kuyt(winger)goes for a long pass from the right of his own half. The ball falls into the penalty area. Petr Cech(goalkeeper)is distracted by the presence of Fernando Torres(striker)so he cannot concentrate and left the goal open by running out to catch the aerial ball. Just as the ball touches the ground, who else but mighty Steven Gerrard(midfielder)will sweep it into the net from a short distance

The goal will be scored in the second half because we stopped halfway for a dessert break and I checkmated my cousin after the game had resumed

Let's see if it's the same tonight
